About MTALI

The Montana Association of Licensed Investigators (MTALI) was founded to unite and strengthen the private investigation profession across Montana. For years, licensed investigators in Montana have operated without a centralized professional network. MTALI was created to change that—bringing investigators together to share knowledge, elevate standards, and build a stronger, more connected industry. MTALI is committed to advancing professionalism through training, ethical practices, collaboration, and advocacy. As the profession continues to evolve, MTALI serves as a trusted resource for connection, leadership, and growth for investigators across the state.

Why MTALI Matters

Private investigators play a critical role in the legal system, business community, and public safety across Montana. Yet, until now, there has been no unified organization representing and supporting licensed investigators statewide. MTALI exists to fill that gap—providing a professional network where investigators can collaborate, access training, stay informed, and strengthen their credibility in the field. By bringing investigators together, MTALI helps raise the standard of the profession, improve public trust, and ensure that licensed investigators in Montana have a strong, collective voice.

Mission

MTALI’s mission is to advance the private investigation profession in Montana through education, ethical standards, professional development, collaboration, and legislative awareness.
